22R Hilux

22R Hilux

This is my 22R Hilux. With only a 2 inch body lift and some 33 inch Maxxis Bighorns, it goes anywhere you point it! They are a simple, reliable and economical car.

Hey man, I own a hilux that looks really similar, just wondering if your rims have any offset or is it just the 33″ by 12.5″ that stick out that much? Also how does the 22r go with the 33s? Cheers man

    Hi Brandon,

If yours is a solid front axle Hilux, it will run a -22mm rim as standard. The extra amount the tyres stick out is from the tyres and rim. The standard tyre is only 10 inch wide (now 12 inch) and the standard rim only 7 inch (now 8 inch)

The 22R is not much of a powerhouse, and you do lose a bit of power. Is yours standard petrol with no engine mods? It will use a bit more fuel too!

Ohk cheers, yeah standard with gas since 2010… did they fit no problem? Because I’ve got a 3″ lift and I’m not too confident in them fitting without some adjustments

    Hi Brandon,

After removing the front mud guards, they only scrubbed a little on full lock, and more so when four wheel driving but it was never a problem. A suspension lift will give you clearance when you are on the road, but off-road when the wheels flex upwards you will notice that the clearance disappears quite quickly. It’s fairly easy to move the front differential forward if required though, or a body lift isn’t that hard either. Just throw them on and see where they hit!
