Goldvale Farm Stay; brilliant camping with kids

We love private property stays, especially if they’re on a farm. Add in animal feeding for the kids and a stunning little creek, and you’re onto a winner every day of the week. Enter Goldvale Farm Stay, which we’ve recently spent two nights at, and thoroughly enjoyed.

We’d been slowly making our way up towards Queensland, staying at a huge number of great National Park campgrounds, but its hard to resist a good farm stay with kids, and when you see how beautiful the creek that they have is, its well and truly worth pulling in.

What does it cost to stay, and booking requirements

It’s just $25 a night to stay here, regardless of the number of people in your setup. Ringing ahead to book is preferable, with the number of camp sites relatively small, and it getting quite popular over weekends.

That’s really decent value, given what many other places are camping, but remember to bring cash!

Dogs and fires

Well behaved dogs are permitted, and fires are too in season, with your own firewood.

What amenities are there?

There are no amenities here, and you need to be self sufficient. That means your own water, toilet and taking all of your rubbish home.

What’s the creek like?

We’ve stayed near some stunning creeks in our travels around Australia, but the one at Goldvale Farm Stay is absolutely stunning. Its got a heap of different pools and waterfalls, making it brilliant for kids to play around fairly safely.

If you head out at night you’ll see an array of eels, crustaceans and turtles, and it’s a pretty neat experience only metres from your camping setup.

Our kids spent hours and hours playing down at the water with cars and trucks, buckets and little bits of wood, and loved every minute of it.

Feeding the animals

At 9AM each morning, the owner feeds a variety of animals, and you’re welcome to head up towards the homestead to participate. He’s got some friendly chickens and ducks, a few cheeky goats, a couple of dogs, lots of sheep and some beautiful cows that you camp very close to.
