Camping Nachos; a delicious and simple camping meal
When you find a recipe that the entire family absolutely loves, you hold onto it for dear life. With two young boys who frequently change what they like, recipes like Camping Nachos are hugely popular. For us, we’ve completely and utterly fallen in love with camping nacho’s, and its so easy, tasty and simple that its a regular easy camping meal.
Now, there would be a million different varieties, and I’ve seen some neat ones cooked in a camp oven, but this is a basic saucepan and cutting board kind of meal, and can be prepared and ready in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- Corn chips x 1 packet
- Mince
- Salsa Sauce x 1 jar
- Avocado x 1
- Red onion x a quarter
- Sour Cream
- Lime x 1/2
- Coriander (to taste)
- Grated cheese
Method
- Fry the mince up, and add the salsa sauce
- Make the guacamole, by mashing the avocado up, adding some chopped red onion and coriander, and adding a squeeze of lime
- Load a plate up with corn chips, then mince and then guacamole, cheese and sour cream
We leave the beans out as Sarah isn’t a fan, but a good guacamole makes this a fresh, tasty and reasonably healthy meal. Sarah actually doesn’t like avocado at all, but as a guacamole its mowed down and we all enjoy it.
We do this fairly often now, and I reckon it would make the ultimate morning tea. I’d probably even eat it without the mince; it really is an awesome camping meal that you should try.
